AlphaOmega Soft, Inc.'s iSeePet system is a combination remote-feeder and video web cam that enables you to see and feed your pet via cell phone (iSeePet is not to be confused with the online litter box, iSeePetPee). I ran into AlphaOmega Vice President of Marketing, Noriko Harada (fortunately she sustained only minor Segway injuries). Noriko told me that the company is looking for a U.S. distributor, and expects to sell it here some time in the first half of next year for a suggested retail price of $618 (plus a monthly service fee). The company has already established an office in the U.S. (in Bellevue, Washington, near Seattle). Tell your dog that help is on the way.

and a company showing something called iSeePet, a food dish for Fido whose contents are controlled via the Web after a chime goes off when the critter walks -- or knowing my own kitties, gallups -- near the dish looking for a bite to eat.

Most fun gizmo: Fujitsu's iSeePet (http://www.iseepet.com). It sounds hokey: a webcam in a pet food dish. But when we go out of town, our older cat eats everything, barfs on the floor, and then starves for another few days. With this gizmo, you can check on the critter and hit a button to tell the dish to emit food. I've no idea what it costs, but this is a Sharper Image toy if I ever saw one.
